LocoRoco (ロコロコ, Rokoroko^?) is a platform video game released worldwide in 2006 for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld game console, and developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was developed by Tsutomu Kouno, striving to create a game that was different than other titles being released for the PSP at the time, most being sequels of PlayStation 2 games. After demonstrating a prototype of the core gameplay to his management, Kouno was able to complete development over a course of one and a half years.

In LocoRoco, the player must tilt the environment by using the shoulder buttons on the PSP in order to maneuver the LocoRoco, multi-colored jelly-like characters, through each level, being aided by other odd residents while avoiding hazards and the deadly Moja Troop, to reach an end goal. Along the way, the LocoRoco can grow in size by eating special berries, and then can be split and rejoined to pass the LocoRoco through narrow spaces. The game’s bright and colorful visuals and dynamic music soundtrack were hallmarks of the game, earning it several awards from the gaming press in 2006. While the game did not sell high volumes, its success led to the development of two additional sequels, one for the PSP and one for the PlayStation 3.

Sudoku is a world wide phenomena that is played by millions of people and Eidos have tried to capture the market with their own version of this popular game in Zendoku – Sudoku Battle Action which features cute Manga type characters that was once a pen and puzzle game now converted to the portable gaming market.

Zendoku is played on a 9×9 square grid, with the aim of the game to fill every row, column and 3×3 sub-box with one of each number from one to nine. There can be no repeats and only logic can be used to fill the grid. Manage to slot everything in its right place and hopefully you can beat your opponent.

Unlike traditional Sudoku, Zendoku is almost like a fighting game meets Sudoku where the player must compete against a variety of opponents in order to try and fill a grid first. As a result, the puzzles are a little on the easy side but the pressure of having to race an opponent makes this quite frustrating at times.

The player can also choose between eight characters to choose between as they right their way through a variety of levels based throughout the world. The developers have also included some interesting cutscenes between the levels as you progress to becoming Doshu, the king of fighters… er… Sudoku… uhmm… Zendoku!

Graphically, Zendoku may not appear to be much but is actually quite “cute” with it’s basic animation that is reminiscent of a Japanese cartoon. There are some special effects but the majority of the title is 2D. As with the graphics, the sound effects are quite “cute” and really suits the title perfectly. In conclusion, Zendoku on the PSP is a fun game, provided you like Sudoku and cute Japanese type characters. Definitely a game that can be played forever, however for those that are not into puzzles or Sudoku, you may wish to look elsewhere before spending the Devil’s candy.

Breath of Fire III (ブレスオブファイアIII, Buresu obu Faia Surī^?) is a console role-playing game developed and published by Capcom for the PlayStation game console. Originally released in Japan in 1997, the game was later released for North America and the PAL region in 1998. It is the third video game in the Breath of Fire series, and the first to feature three-dimensional environments and effects, as well as several new gameplay elements including an expanded combat system, the ability to learn enemy skills, and environment interaction.In 2005, Breath of Fire III was ported to the PlayStation Portable handheld system in Japan, with an English version released exclusively in Europe in 2006.

Set in a fantasy world, the story concerns Ryu, a young boy with the mysterious ability to transform into powerful dragons who must discover the truth behind his origins, as well as locate his lost friends and surrogate family, Rei and Teepo. The game’s plot is presented in two parts: half concerning Ryu as a child, and the other as an adult. He is accompanied by a number of supporting characters who aid him on a journey that leads them across the world and eventually confront a mad goddess. Though modestly successful, the game is described as a “thoroughly traditional” yet “classic” role-playing game with a unique Jazz-inspired soundtrack.
